After the end of the War of 1812, there was a great period of adjustment as life returned normal.  In the 1820s, progress was achieved with the completion of the Talbot Trail, the creation of more concession roads and the discovery of iron ore.  This book captures that era as the town of Olinda flourished, with the establishment of furnace, foundry and many manufacturing companies and what followed. The population boomed along with the economy until the recession some twenty years later.  It sparked a period of rebelliousness in Upper Canada.
